Billing and Financial Responsibility
At Gunter Family Medicine, we believe in transparency and fairness when it comes to your care. By receiving services at our clinic, you agree to our general consent and financial policies, which outline your responsibility for co-pays, deductibles, and any charges not covered by insurance. We will bill your insurance directly whenever possible and assign applicable benefits on your behalf. Payment is due at the time of service unless prior arrangements are made. If you ever have questions about your bill or insurance coverage, our team is here to help. For full details, please refer to our General Consent and Financial Policy, available at check-in or upon request.

Out-of-Network & Self-Pay Patients

Texas-Specific Billing Disclosures
Under Texas law (Senate Bill 490), Gunter Family Medicine is required to provide patients with a written, itemized bill before seeking payment for any services—including a plain-language description of each service or supply, the amount owed, and any insurance payments or codes—either in paper form or electronically. You also have the right to request these itemized bills at any time, and we cannot send your account to collections until this has been provided. We comply with both HIPAA and the Texas Medical Records Privacy Act, which guarantee your right to receive notice about how your health information is used, to request corrections, and to receive breach notifications. Additionally, you have the right to request copies of your medical records within 15 business days, subject to reasonable fees as allowed under Texas law. In compliance with the Texas Data Privacy and Security Act (effective July 2024), we do not sell your personal data and have implemented safeguards to protect all sensitive and identifiable information we collect.
